Ahh yes, Allbirds. When you picture an Allbirds shoe, it typically looks like the one below: 1ļøā£ non-descript 2ļøā£ generally worn by people in a certain tax bracket who donāt usually wear sneakers 3ļøā£ usually devoid of any semblance of steeziness.
But that changed when I saw my fiancĆ©eās pair of Allbirds. I came to the realization that sometimes Iām a gosh dang hater and I judge a book by itās seemingly swaggerless coverā¦
Her Trail Runners kinda flipped a switch for me in terms of my perception of the brandās product offerings. I was intrigued by the chunky, rugged, almost Nike React Element 55-like sole.Ā The different natural tones paired with various textures piqued my interest, too. I was like: these are Allbirds and they arenāt default create-a-player shoes???
Aight Allbirds: you have my attentionā¦
Seeing her shoes near our doorway inspired me to check out what options they have for lil old me. What I was greeted with blew my mind. Never would I expect this brand to have something so funky, so different, and with a wink to counterculture.
Whereas my shirts and pants are usually monochromatic, I like the pops of color on my footwear. That being said, I would 100% rock these on a run or hike with rougher terrain. You could catch me traversing the Hudson Valleyās scenic trails or getting some road work in rocking these jawns right here.
But am I willing to drop a cool 150 bones on āem? I donāt know about all that. I like the colors and the fact you can throw these in the laundry, but is that enough to press the mf button? I could see these as a hiking shoe, but Iām not doing it enough to warrant the cost.
So Allbirds: I appreciate what youāre doing and I love this pair, but this might be a speciality purchase down the line!
I like the direction youāre going in, though!
Ehh I'm passing on these mfs. The speciality I'd rock (not for that $), but the create-a-player ones, even if they were gifted to me, I wouldn't rock. I'd choose running barefoot over been seen in public with those. Just kidding...kind of. Maybe when I'm 40.
The top of the sneaker looks like a dress shoe. I like.
